Since our inception in 2015 CrownCARES has served over 10,000 children with shoes, socks, books and a message of hope. As an outreach of the World Champion Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle Corps, CrownCARES is a completely volunteer organization that has impacted children in cities across the US, from our base in the greater Charlotte area to Ferguson Missouri. 

Our newest and admittedly most audacious program, Rhythm & Reading! was created to impact the childhood literacy gap plaguing the most economically diverse communities. Toward that end, CrownCARES Rhythm & Reading! has already distributed over 10,000 books through our live events. At these events, volunteers engage children, with the goal of encouraging a love of reading...not from ipads and tech devices, but from a good old-fashioned book, to pick up a pair of drum sticks, grab a bucket and bang out the rhythm in the words they are reading. It is a proven fact that such an interactive and fun approach to learning is effective! Through these events, lives are truly changed, and not just from those we serve, but for those of us who serve as well.
